Houston's 150th birthday celebration
For its 150th birthday celebration in 1987, Houston invited Jean-Michel Jarre to debut his latest album, Rendezvous. Jarre called the concert "Rendezvous Houston" and used downtown as a backdrop for his multimedia show of music, laser images, spotlights and fireworks. For those unfamiliar with him, Jarre is a major European (French) artist and a synthesizer pioneer. He was the first Western artist allowed to perform in China after the cultural revolution. His father, Maurice Jarre, scored many epic motion pictures such as Lawrence of Arabia.
Jean-Michel Jarre's albums:
- En Attendant Cousteau
Too short.
- Equinoxe
Very good.
- Les Chants Magnetiques ("Magnetic Fields")
Very good.
- Les Concerts en Chine
Since this is a 2-album recording of his China concert, it's like a best-of album.
- Oxygene
Very good.
- Rendezvous
- Revolutions
- Zoolook (with Laurie Anderson)
Good if you like weird things, as you might expect from a collaboration of the two.
